Natural Disaster

Disaster means unfortunate and unexpected event. Natural disaster is sudden destruction that happens in nature. Earthquake, volcano, Landslides, Flood etc are the examples of Natural disaster. Flood and landslides are the result of continuous rain. Earthquake and volcano are quite unexpected. People do not have time to protect themselves from such natural disaster. We sometimes hear the sad news about the death of hundreds and thousands of people in some parts of the world. In such disasters either the whole family is affected or at least there is tragic separation.

There are different causes of natural disaster. Many of them are natural causes. Earthquake and volcano take place due to internal natural laws. Man can not have the Knowledge before they erupt. Nor can they prevent them. So, little can be done about the earthquake and volcano. But flood and disaster take place because human mismanagement also. When the natural balance is disturbed, there is much rain in one region whereas in the other there is no rain at all. Besides these, there are the epidemics and the other diseases caused by man himself. All these, disaster, however, can be less devastating if we can manage well. We can certainly minimize the effects of the natural disaster even through we can not prevent them.

In Nepal, there have been a lot of flood victims this year. Hundreds of people have been buried in the landslides. Many of them have drowned into the flood water. Some of the survivors have died later when they did not get any help from government or the community. Efforts have been made to help the flood victims by the government and the others. But they are not enough. Somethings more has to be done about it.
